A Story Unwritten: Raising awareness of minority issues in Europe

P.A.U. Education co-produces a documentary about Roma people in France

P.A.U. Education is co-producer of A Story Unwritten, a full-length documentary about Roma life in France. The film was inspired by our work organising the Roma Conference in Brussels in March 2010 as part of the European year for combating poverty and social exclusion, within the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005-2015.

P.A.U. Education is Co-Producer of A Story Unwritten, a full-length documentary about Roma life in France. The film was inspired by our work organising the Roma Conference in Brussels in March 2010 as part of the European year for combating poverty & social exclusion, within the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005-2015.

We organised the conference, which involved more than 500 participants, and showcased 30 best-practice EU projects in support of the Roma Community. P.A.U. Education also produced a dedicated catalogue of projects funded through EU programmes for education, culture, youth and citizenship, and through EU structural funds.

A member of our editorial team was inspired to make a documentary based on her research and experiences interviewing members of the Roma community for the catalogue. P.A.U. Education has provided full support throughout the pre-production, filming and current post-production phase of the film — which is due for release in 2015.

"The Roma community is very important when we talk about respect for equal rights and about overcoming prejudice and mistrust. I hope this conference will raise wider awareness of the discrimination which many Roma have to endure, while also highlighting what the EU is doing to help address this in areas like schooling, housing and employment."  — Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for education, culture, multilingualism and youth, speaking at the Roma Conference 2010.

P.A.U. Education has operated four European Years on behalf of the European Commission, by designing, developing and implementing relevant, multilingual communications and awareness raising campaigns for all EU Member States. These include European year of citizens (2013-14), European year for active ageing (2012), European year of volunteering (2011) and European year for combating poverty & social exclusion (2010).
