Promoting aquaculture as part of Europe’s shared culture, history and future.
P.A.U Education is in charge of communication for the European Commission on the future of seas and oceans (Directorate-General of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries) - DG MARE.
Our original social communication approach is based on engaging citizens and stakeholders in a continuous dialogue on key issues such as sustainable fishing, environmental protection of seas and oceans or innovative use of maritime resources.
As part of our on-going Inseparable campaign, which highlights the health and environmental benefits of eating, buying and selling sustainable fish, we currently operate the ‘Farmed in the EU’ initiative to foster dialogue and joint action between the European aquaculture industry and citizens.
At the heart of the initiative, we are organising a school project, targeting secondary students in 10 EU countries, in partnership with local fish farms. The first activity took place on 2 March, when students from the Lycée de la Mer et du Littoral Paul Bousquet visited the Les Poissons Du Soleil fish farms. During this visit, the students had a chance to ask questions regarding the personal and professional experiences of the fish farmers.
All participating schools and farms will enter a contest, for the chance to win a trip to the Milan Expo 2015 to share their project and follow-up activities, and receive a certificate.
P.A.U Education designs major communication activities on other key societal issues. See our social communication activities.
